2021 started around five months ago, and several shows we had been waiting for had been released. Some of the shows were new series, new seasons, or epic finales, and we could see that the fans had been anticipating these. The second season of Apple TV+’s Dickinson and the first wave of Disney’s numerous Marvel Universe series were included in 2021’s lineup, and everyone had been looking forward to these.
Superman And Lois
CW Arrow bestowed us with one of the original superheroes with his lady. Superman and Lois starred Tyler Hoechlin together with Elizabeth Tulloch as the title characters, and the television series would be filled with action, fighting against crime, and laser-eye pointing. In addition, we would see Superman face the most challenging task of being a parent. Arrow-verse’s fans would be thrilled to jump on this series, especially when it was renewed for another season.
Painting With John
Some people were fond of watching Bob Ross paint, so we would highly recommend Painting With John. It would be aired on HBO, and instead of acrylic paint, John Lurie’s medium was watercolor. The television series would feature the artist as he created paintings on his workstation. John Lurie would also share various watercolor techniques and other things he learned throughout his life. The series would be best for those who wanted to try watercolors.
Punky Brewster
Punky Brewster would be revived, and it would take its fans back in time. Soleil Moon Frye. The leading actress remained the title character, but instead of being an adventurous child, she had three kids. The series would feature how Punky survived adulthood, and everything changed when the family met a young girl from the foster care system. The girl was like how Punky used to be when she was the same age.
Euphoria, The Second Stand-Alone Episode
Euphoria’s second stand-alone episode would feature Jules instead of Rue, and it would emphasize Jules’ holiday season after breaking up with Rue. Euphoria was a critically acclaimed series beloved by the fans, and the actress Hunter Schafer would portray how her character felt during the significant events in her life. The episode would be the final special before the second season, and it would be something that the viewers would diligently look forward to.
Pretend It’s A City
Pretend It’s A City was a seven-part documentary series that any household would enjoy watching. Martin Scorsese, a famous director, created it, and the series would portray the reality of residing in New York City. The docu-series would show the difficulties of walking through Times Square and also the complicated subway system. The documentary series would also feature several interviews, archived footage of New York, and the conversations between Fran Lebowitz and Scorsese.
WandaVision
WandaVision was one of Disney+’s original series, and those unaware of the show should start watching it. The setting would be the events after Endgame, and the fans would appreciate returning to Avengers’ insane world. However, the fans would have no idea who and what to trust while watching WandaVision. WandaVision’s main character would be living the perfect suburban life similar to Bewitched, I Love Lucy, and Modern Family.
Search Party Season Four
Search Party Season Four was a long-awaited series on HBO Max featuring Dory and her friends. The fourth season would portray the cast as being funnier and would be aired this 2021. Dory somehow made it through the murder trial during season 3, and the protagonist thought things would go well. However, it was unfortunate that it was far from the truth as Dory had been kidnapped by someone hoping to be her best friend.
Dickinson Season 2
Dickinson Season 2 was Apple TV’s original series. It had an odd combination of a typical period piece and a millennial forcefully thrown in the middle of the world of Emily Dickinson. The first season featured Hailee Steinfeld on her way to be a famous poet, but the following season would focus on something else. Thankfully, the series would still include 19th-century jokes but would portray the main character differently.
The Lady And The Dale
The Lady and The Dale was a documentary series featuring Carmichael’s path to stardom, her extraordinary 20th-Century Motor Car Corporation, and The Dale – the car that made everything possible. Elizabeth Carmichael stunned everyone during the 70s because of the fuel-efficient vehicle she dubbed as The Dale. Everyone wanted to have an innovative piece of technology. The docu-series would attempt to bring to light the underlying scams Carmichael wished to keep hidden.
Gossip Girl
Gossip Girl would be a new series in HBO Max this 2021 and feature a new cast. It might seem to be the typical journey back to Manhattan’s Upper East Side, but it would no longer focus on Serena Blair’s drama with the private school friends. Gossip Girl would still have texting scandals, inside scoops, and stuff that could ruin the rich and famous students’ reputation. Be prepared as XOXO Gossip Girl would reveal everyone’s darkest secrets.
The Snoopy Show
Apple TV+ would release The Snoopy Show this 2021 because it was time for Snoopy to be the protagonist of a new show. The Snoopy Show would focus on the world’s most famous dogs’ adventures. We would also see several high-flying, fun-loving, and happy-dancing episodes together with Snoopy and the Peanuts gang. The Snoopy Show would be aired 70 years after the famous Peanuts’ comic strips were created.
The Falcon And The Winter Soldier
Disney+ released The Falcon and The Winter Soldier after a long time of not airing any new MCU content. The series would start after Captain America gave his shield to The Falcon, Sam Wilson. However, we would bet that it would not be as simple as that. The Falcon and The Winter Soldier would be split into a miniseries with six parts, and fans were faithfully waiting for the show since it would illustrate how dark and disturbing Marvel could be.
Genius: Aretha
Genius: Aretha would be National Geographic’s third installment after Pablo Picasso and Albert Einstein, and it would focus on Aretha Franklin’s life. Genius: Aretha would feature the Queen of Soul’s music, real-life events, and it was indeed a biopic series we would not want to miss in 2021. Cynthia Erivo would act as the title character, and the audience would have high expectations from the Tony Award winner. Genius: Aretha would have eight episodes.
Hemingway
Hemingway would have three parts and would play for a total of six hours. Ken Burns, Lynn Novick, and Sarah Botstein would take a deeper look into Ernest Hemingway’s life and legacy. Those who enjoyed arts, poetry, and literature would indeed appreciate this series. Hemingway would be half documentary and half live-action, including Meryl Streep, Mary-Louise Parker, Keri Russel, and Patricia Clarkson. All of them would act as Hemingway’s four wives.
Shadow And Bone
Shadow and Bone would be available for streaming this 2021 on Netflix, and it would be season 1 of the adaptation of Leigh Bardugo’s novel with the same title. The series would revolve around Alina Starkov, an orphan from war. The main character would come across an ancient power, and she would be forced to choose between difficult choices. It was known that Alina enjoyed training with the Grisha, an elite magical army.
Loki
Loki was one of the villains that the MCU fans could not get enough of. It was fortunate that Disney+ would release a series focusing on him this 2021. The story would pick up from the time Loki stole the Tesseract in Endgame and altered the timeline. The God of Mischief was taken care of by the Time Variance Authority. The story would be filled with mischief that only Loki could have come up with.
The Summer Olympics, Aka Toyko 2021
Everyone was disappointed when the 2020 Olympic Games was skipped last summer, but it was fortunate to resume this 2021. Athletes had been fully prepared for the Olympic Games and had an extra year to train for the biggest sporting event. NBC was chosen to air the event that usually took place every four (but now five) years. Tokyo 2021 was one of the events that we would be looking forward to this summer.
Dopesick
Dopesick was the television adaptation of Beth Macy’s non-fiction novel with the same title. Dopesick would feature the great pandemic inflicting the United States, and for those who did not guess, it was about opioid addiction. Dopesick was a series that had an outstanding cast that will indeed move the audience to tears. Some of the casts were John Hoogenakker, Kaitlyn Dever, Michael Keaton, Peter Sarsgaard, Rosario Dawson, and Will Poulter.
Foundation
Foundation would be aired by Apple TV+ and an adaptation of Isaac Asimov’s sci-fi novel bearing the same title. It would focus on a group of rebels whose mission was to save the Galactic Empire from being destroyed. First, Lovin Malta interviewed the creator, to which he responded with, “now, with Foundation, we can hopefully [tell] the story over 80 episodes, or 80 hours, as opposed to trying to condense it down into a two or three-hour film.”
The Gilded Age
The Gilded Age was created by Downtown Abbey’s creator named Julian Fellowes and was also deemed a period drama series. Like the England-based show, The Gilded Age’s setting would be in New York City during the 1880s and would revolve around the lives of upper-class society. The Gilded Age would feature an outstanding cast, and the characters would be played by Carrie Coon, Christine Baranski, Cynthia Nixon, and Taissa Farmiga.
Ted Lasso – Season 2
Winner of the Golden Globe In the second season of the award-winning Apple TV+ comedy Ted Lasso, Jason Sudeikis is back and funnier than ever. It’s back to England in season two to watch AFC Richmond battle in the Championship. Apart from that minor narrative aspect, the cast and crew have been cryptic about what fans may expect from the future season. All you need to know is that there will be plenty of belly chuckles.
Sweet Tooth
In the Netflix original series Sweet Tooth, Gus is ready to tell his narrative of adventure, friendship, and the meaning of home. Newborns after “The Great Crumble” weren’t normal; they were half-human, half-beast. Humans are afraid of them, and they hunt them down. Gus, a human-deer hybrid, isn’t deterred from venturing outside of his forest home in pursuit of the meaning of his origins.
Monsters At Work
With the July Disney+ release of Monsters at Work, Pixar is giving the fans what they want. The workplace comedy will follow Mike and Sully as they introduce the harvesting of children’s laughter rather than their screams, set after the events of Monsters Inc. The series will be full of family fun, with all of the snark and humor that the film is known for. It will be a series that both children and adults will appreciate.
Love, Victor – Season 2
Victor’s parents’ reactions to his coming out will be revealed in June 2021. The hit series’ first season ended on a cliffhanger, but the anticipated second season will be well worth the wait. Victor enjoys a fantastic summer after coming out to his parents. It’s now back to school for him and his partner, Benji. The main issue is how will people react when he ultimately comes out in public?
Heels
Heels, a Starz original series, will premiere in August. Ace and Jack Spade, two brothers who feud in and out of the wrestling ring, star in the series. They strive to secure the rights to their father’s legacy, a wrestling promotion firm while building a reputation for themselves in small-town Georgia, as neither wants to pursue a typical 9-5 job. The action scenes are going to be amazing, with Viking’s Alexander Ludwig and Arrow’s Stephen Amell starring as Jack and Ace.
The Good Fight – Season 5
Season 5 of The Good Fight will premiere on Paramount+ in June 2021, which will excite fans of the show. Viewers were left with more questions than answers at the close of the fourth season, including what would happen to their favorite characters now that Reddick, Boseman & Lockhart’s founding partner’s name had been dragged through the mud and the firm had lost their most prestigious client. So, what’s the plan now? Only time will tell, so stay tuned for the coming season!
Turner & Hooch
Turner & Hooch, starring Josh Pecks, will premiere on Disney+ on July 16, 2021. The series is essentially a continuation of the original comedy. This time, it chronicles the story of U.S. Marshal Scott Turner, the son of the first Turner. Scott Turner, like his father, despises his slobbery buddy, the endearing Hooch. However, they become best friends as a result of their exploits. It’s going to be one of the summer’s most upbeat shows.
Riverdale – Season 5B
The CW will air the second half of Riverdale season five this summer. The sitcom is more ridiculous and drama-filled than ever with a time jump, sending the youngsters of the crime-ridden town into their 20s. While the plot has remained a mystery, fans can expect the drama to continue to focus on Hiram Lodge’s attempt to destroy the town and Jughead’s extensive investigation into the Mothman conspiracy.
Blindspotting
The Starz series Blindspotting will follow Ashley after her husband Miles is imprisoned, following the events of the 2018 film of the same name. Ashley and their son move in with her mother-in-law and sister-in-law after his prison. The series explores what people will do when confronted with apparently impossible choices. Blindspotting, a drama/comedy hybrid, is one of those shows that doesn’t shy away from the realities of everyday life.
Schmigadoon!
Schmigadoon! is a series that will provide a smile to the faces of theater fans. It is a tribute to the Broadway stars whose careers were put on pause during the 2020 lockdown. The series, which will premiere on Apple TV+, follows a couple who become trapped in the mythical town of Schmigadoon, which seems like it came straight out of a great musical. With Broadway superstars like Kristin Chenoweth and Aaron Tveit in the cast, the series is guaranteed to have some incredible musical numbers.
What If…?
With the Disney+ series What If…?, the MCU enters the animated world. Taking important events from the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s films, the series poses a crucial question: what if this happened instead of that? What if Peggy Carter became Captain Britain, or Steve Rogers turned into a zombie? The series will answer questions that fans didn’t even realize they had, and it’s going to be fantastic.
Masters Of The Universe: Revelation
Masters of the Universe: Revelation is an animated series that viewers won’t want to miss out on this summer, set after the events of the legendary 1980s cartoon and following the story of Prince Adam. This comedy, which will air on Netflix in July, isn’t your usual Saturday morning animation. “We use these characters that most people consider action figures to convey extraordinarily human stories set in a very inhuman setting,” says series creator Kevin Smith.
Panic
The Amazon Prime Video series Panic, based on Lauren Oliver’s young adult novel of the same name, will transport viewers to a small Texas town this summer. Teenagers, especially this bunch of freshly graduated seniors who want to make their last summer together one to remember, don’t think about the implications of their behavior. These kids, competing in a high-stakes race for money and a better life, have no idea what they’re in for…and neither does the audience.
Mr. Corman
Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays the fictional Mr. Corman, a music instructor whose hopes of becoming a professional singer don’t exactly work out in a drama based on his real-life experiences. Corman recently broke up with his fiancée, moved in with a high school friend, and is suffering as an artist, although loving his job as a teacher. The comedy-drama on Apple TV+ is set to be one of the summer’s biggest successes, so users won’t want to miss out.
Lisey’s Story
Lisey’s Story should be on the top of your must-see list if you’re a fan of Stephen King’s psychological thrillers. The drama follows Lisey London as she begins to relive repressed memories and frightening incidents of her late husband, Scott, based on the same-named King novel. “There’s so much in it — psychological horror, romance, mystery, a science-fiction-like element, sort of terrible violence — sometimes I was like, holy cow, what now?” says star Julianne Moore.
Hit & Run
The original series Hit & Run will provide plenty of intrigues, intrigue, and drama for Netflix users. Segev, a happily married man, embarks on a frantic search for the person responsible after learning that his wife was killed in a hit-and-run accident. With the help of his ex, Segev discovers that all he thought he knew about his wife was a deception and that she is much more than he ever imagined.
Stargirl – Season 2
Season one of Stargirl ended in suspense, so fans will be thrilled to discover that the Arrowverse series will return this summer on The CW for a second season. While the story for the upcoming season has yet to be revealed, fans can expect answers to some of their questions. Yolanda’s murder of Brainwave, Solomon Grundy’s escape from the ISA, and Starman’s surprising reappearance are just a few of the events that will be discussed.
American Rust
American Rust stars Jeff Daniels as Del Harris, the chief of police in the small town of Buell, Pennsylvania, based on Philipp Meyer’s breakthrough novel of the same name. The series follows Harris as he makes his way through the run-down town, which is on the verge of collapse. To make matters worse, his girlfriend’s son has been charged with murder. Buell never has a dull moment, and fans won’t want to miss a second of the drama.
